Business Development Manager - Sponsorship and Exhibit Sales

The Business Development Manager is responsible for Sponsorship Selling and Servicing. Through an ambitious, creative and tenacious set of skills and attributes, the representative secures a core revenue stream for the company.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet and exceed sales goals
  • Conduct prospect outreach through all mediums aggressively (phone, email, social media)
  • Conduct innovative prospect nurture campaigns on an ongoing basis
  • Sell a cross section of all sponsorship products to produce the highest customer on-site experience
  • Identify new topic areas through the ability to understand both customer and market trends and needs
  • Work in a team capacity with conference producer, marketing, delegate sales and operations
  • Maintain a current prospect and customer list using the Company CRM system or system requested by management
  • Attend assigned conferences as directed by management
  • Attend competitive events as directed by management
  • Maintain industry knowledge through keeping abreast of trends via seeking content on a routine basis and pushing content out to prospects and customers
  • Active and strategic use of Twitter and LinkedIn

SKILLS:

  • Core selling skills including prospect qualification, sales cycle management, value proposition selling and closing
  • Ability to work in a competitive industry where strategic selling and relationship building is paramount
  • Desire to work closely with Sales Management on strategic selling and proposal development
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Strong and articulate communicator 
  • Ability to read customer needs and sell up into most desirable positioning at events
  • Project management skills and excellent organizational skills
  • Manage multiple conference assignments and priorities to meet multiple deadlines
  • High energy, willingness to think creatively, problem solver
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree.  Business degree or related curriculum preferred but not required.
Experience: 2-5 or more years experienced preferred.
